
The Path to becoming the olubadan of Ibadan land
The Olubadan of Ibadanland is a revered traditional institution with a rich history. To become the Olubadan, one must become the mágàjì of his compound first, which must be approved by Olubadan of ibadan land. After ones has become magaji there is a specific path that involves climbing through various chieftaincy titles. There are two main lines to follow: the Civil Line (Egbé Àgbà oyè) and the Military Line (Egbé Balógun). Both lines have their own set of titles that must be conferred upon an individual before they can become the Olubadan.

The Olubadan is selected from both lines using rotational method. If the current Olubadan is from the Military Line, the next one will come from the Civil Line, and vice versa.
